Why Believe in Ken Horrell for BSSD School Board
I’m running for the Blue Springs School Board because strong schools are essential to our students, educators, and community. As a parent, grandparent, longtime volunteer, and the husband of an educator who supported young children with developmental needs at Liggett Trail Early Childhood Center, I’ve seen firsthand how strong schools change lives. I believe in practical, student-centered leadership that supports educators, listens to families, and uses resources responsibly—

Students First — Every Student
Health and safety must always be our top priority—physically, emotionally, and socially. Our schools should be safe, supportive environments where bullying and cyberbullying are addressed, and students are protected from harassment or abuse by peers or trusted adults. Community Involvement & Leadership
Making Blue Springs a better place to live, work, and raise a family is a goal we all share. Over the past several years, I have been actively involved in our community through volunteering and service on city boards and commissions, contributing where help and leadership were needed. In 2020, I was appointed to the Blue Springs Parks Commission, where I currently serve. During this time, we advocated for and successfully passed a sales tax extension that funded park improvem

Working with youth in Scouting
For the past 25 years, I have worked closely with kids, mostly from Missouri and Kansas in grades 5–12, and young adults in the Scouting program. I served in a wide range of leadership roles, working directly with Scouting units at meetings, overnight activities, summer camp, and while teaching merit badges. These experiences allowed me to help mentor youth from diverse backgrounds, including some with special needs, helping them build self-confidence, leadership skills, cha
